This is Albion House, in the town of
Marlow, Buckinghamshire. The town has many charming old buildings like this one, but this is a very special house: it was the home of
Mary and
Percy Bysshe Shelley for a year or so, between 1817-1818. This is where Mary Shelley completed the writing of
Frankenstein. So this is a sacred place of pilgrimage for all aficionados of the horror genre. I will try to go back there around Halloween to take a picture, see if the circumstances bring extra atmosphere. Until then, behold the sacred place that saw the birth of a monster.

Do you believe that Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein or that her husband ghostwrote it?
