Farewell to a local café
My wife learned something today that shocked and saddened us: one of the independent cafés in our town, my favourite local café in fact, was closing! And that today was their last day of business. So we decided to rush there to have one last bite. I had this classic Victoria sponge. It is not as inventive as some of the cakes they baked in the past, such as their peach and mint cake or their cranberry cake, but it was delicious. I will really miss them.

It's always sad when a favourite restaurant closes.
