Roman Britain

This picture comes from the Facebook page of the British Museum. It is the statuette of a horseman and his horse made in Roman Britain in the 3rd or the 4th century. The rider probably had a spear in his hands. He now misses the spear and his left arm. You can read more about it here. I visited a long time ago (about twenty years now, I'd say) the section of the museum on Roman Britain and I remember enjoying it quite a lot. It showed a different perspective to Roman society, in a very remote and then exotic part of the Empire. I can't wait to see it again.

I've always been interested in Roman Britain. I bet Roman soldiers hated being posted there. Middle of bloody nowhere and full of savages.
