Cate Blanchett dancing and singing

There was tonight on British TV a program about the best songs of the 80s. A decade I don't like much. Apparently, the third best song was Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler. Which I have a soft spot for, as it was sung by... Cate Blanchett, in the movie Bandits. She also sings and dances on Holding Out for a Hero in the same scene. The film is not the greatest one of my favourite actress, but it's good, solid entertainment and Cate Blanchett just heightens and enhances every scene she is in it. She does the same with these two songs, showing her character's frustration in her mundane life culminating in her emotional breakdown. A true great actor, or in this case a great actress, remains great in lesser works. And that is why I think Cate Blanchett is the greatest living actress.
