A taste of the Balkans
There is a food festival in the main park of our little town, and thankfully the weather is actually bearable now (still too dry, but not too hot anymore), so we went there yesterday for dinner. There was a stand that was serving food from the Balkans, we thought it was very original so we decided to try it. My wife had a veggie wrap with halloumi, I tried one with cevapi, a sort of skinless sausage made of mince beef and pork. There was also some cabbage and onion in it and some mint yugurt. It was the first time ever I tried Balkanic food and while it was not outstanding it was quite pleasant, if only because of its exoticism. Maybe there is nothing truly authentic there, but I felt like I was eating something from southeastern Europe.
