A promise of autumn?

These last two or three days have been much cooler than before. Nothing to shiver, but in the lower 20s, which is a sharp contrast to the heatwave we have had recently. It also started raining a fair deal. Yesterday we had strong enough wind to feel a bit of a shiver in the morning and in the afternoon. It gave the air a slight autumnal smell. I know summer is far from over and more heat is meant to come. But yesterday, walking outside with Wolfie, I just thought it felt like the start of autumn. As it is clearly not, and autumn is still very far away, I can only hope that this was a promise of a coming autumn that will be stark contrast with our current summer.
