Desserts and a new great unknown line
I know I often blog about food these days and that many, many, many great unknown lines are food and drink-related. But I promise, there are others that will come which are more profound. This one is again from my brother, again written on his Facebook wall. He wrote this: "Cupcakes. Kouign amann. I think I invented the "diabetic's deathwish diet"". He can rightfully claim he did. Oh but such a sweet death it would be. And if you have not noticed, we do have a sweet tooth in the family.

I've never had a kouign amann -- in fact, this is the first I've heard of it. But it looks soooooo good! A bit like a British Eccles cake perhaps? Except without any mincemeat in it.
Oh kouign amann is unlike anything you have seen or tasted. It is sugary, buttery, rich... Nothing but sugar and butter. With tea on a cold day it is divine.
