Pumpkin Chai

I took this picture from the Facebook page of David's Tea. I am sharing it here for an announcement I have been wanting to make for a few days now. Yes, it is still summer, here we even have a heatwave, but all the same: autun is on its way (and so is Halloween) and if you needed more evidence for it, know that David's Tea's Pumpkin Chai is back. It has been since early August. For those like me who love everything autumn, but don't like coffee, this is the drink for you.

Du thé chez Couche-Tard

 Excellente nouvelle: j'apprends, via la page Facebook de David's Tea, que Couche-Tard offre maintenant leurs produits. C'est une très bonne chose: faut bien servir autre chose que du café comme breuvage chaud, taboire. Et puis on a beau dire ce qu'on veut de David's Tea, c'est quand même cool d'avoir une sélection de thés à servir dans un dépanneur. Même ici en Angleterre, je n'ai jamais vu ça. Et puis je vais ajouter une chose: j'ai toujours aimé Couche-Tard. Je l'aime encore plus depuis que j'ai appris la nouvelle. Et ça me donnera donc une autre raison de faire un arrêt obligé lors de notre prochain séjour au Québec.

A Dragon in a Teacup

I know I am very late in the news, but I wanted to share this image taken from the Facebook page of David's Tea. It was publishedduring the Chinese new year. Even though it is most likely AI generated, I found it so cool that I wanted to share it here. If there is one thing I love about Chinese culture, is that they brought us tea. Like the proper stuff, strong yet delicate. That and their dragons. And there is actually some association with Chinese dragons and tea, read this post from 2016 to know more about it. So yes, I love this image.

Autumn Teas

I know David's Tea is not what it used to be, but they did something yesterday that got me in a good mood and reminded me why I still love the company. So yeah, they launched their fall collection. It's not so much their range that got me excited but the fact that they launched it so early. I love how they contribute to get myself and others in that mood. Oh and on a side note, if I cannot get David's Teas here, I have some good home brands that will do just as well when the season comes.

Less Coffee, More Tea

I took this picture a few days ago from the Facebook page of David's Tea. I understand they have been struggling for a while now and been a bit discreet on social media, but I do like their products and love how they made tea cool again. Be that as it may, I love this table, although I don't know how accurate it is. From my personal experience, it is very accurate, especially about the smooth sailing energy. I don't drink coffee anymore, I'm a total tea drinker, but I am sharing it today hoping to evangelise. Drinking tea is just better.

September Calendar (in a nutshell)

I took this image year or two ago the Facebook page of David's Tea. I didn't have time to share it then, so I am doing it now. I know they have been struggling, but they can be so in tune with what I think it is uncanny. So here is their September Calendar, which I find very accurate, at least where I come from.

Matcha Matsu and Me

Many businesses celebrated the Chinese New Year recently on social, including David's Tea. They associated each sign of the Chinese Zodiac, so I learned on their Facebook page that as a serpent, I should celebrate with Matcha Matsu. And... Well, I don't know. I generally drink black tea, but I do enjoy some green tea from time to time. It's meant to be very healthy. It looks and sounds very exotic, according to its description.

Pumpkin Chai and autumn

I took this picture from the Facebook page of David's Tea. I know they have been struggling recently, but hopefully they will pull true, as I love their products. Well, a lot of their accessories and some of their teas as well. Especially their autumn collection (or Fall Collection as they say) and their pumpkin chai. Both are an important part of my autumn and especially of Halloween. If I can stock myself of the chai for the season, that is. Sadly, I'm all out of pumpkin chai and I won't be able to buy any this year. A shame, as they now have released their Fall Collection and the pumpkin chai is of course available. And this year it looks so perfectly autumnal, it saddens me to think I will miss it again.

Tea's the season to be drinking

I know David's Tea has been struggling these last few years and even more so these last few months. I was not sure if I wanted to blog about it, but it made me sad, as I really love their accessories and the fact that they made tea cool and trending again. Or at least they had until they started getting into financial trouble. They did not seem to be doing much except surviving, then I saw on their Facebook page that they had new mugs for Christmas. They look absolutely lovely. Of course I cannot buy any now, but I hope they get back on their feet and I can purchase a Yuletide Christmas mug from them one day, because they sure look gorgeous.

The perfect tea mug?

Well, let's talk about something else than you know what, just to change our minds a bit. I have recently rediscovered all the tea mugs I bought at David's Tea over the years. I don't have that many, in fact here I only have four. The one you see on the picture was the very first I bought from them. It was from their 2013 autumn collection. It has various birds, including an owl, squirrels and foxes on it. To this day, it is my "autumn mug" thus maybe my favourite tea mug every and the one I go for most of the time. When I see it and drink from it, I remember that autumn is getting closer and closer every day and that I only have to be patient and wait for it. David's Tea calls this model the Perect Tea Mug, because it has the perfect shape, can contain the perfect volume of tea, all the necessary accessories for an optimal experience, etc. This one is the Perfect Tea Mug for me also because of its look and the what it reminds me of.

Today's tea mug

So today I survived my first week working from home in confinement, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. I should not say thanks, but so far it has been a borderline blessing for me, for various reasons. Another small advantage is that it allowed me to drink gallons of loose leaf tea (instead of trivial tea bags) in my cool mugs by David's Tea, such as this one. It is one of their "perfect tea mugs" with cats motives on them, which change colours when I pour hot water in it. One of the last accessories I bought from them back in 2016. So today this was my tea mug and if nothing else at least I had a good cuppa in a mug that had plenty of character.

New Tea Mugs

I got this picture from the Facebook page of David's Tea. They have new mugs. I know I'm a complete sucker for these kinds of things, but I really, really, really would like to have some of them, or even a complete set of them to impress our guests at tea time (I am jesting of course, we very rarely have guests coming for tea). However: 1)our cupboards are already crammed with mugs and 2)I live way too far from the nearest David's Tea shop to buy a set. The second point is the real problem, as I can easily convince my wife to buy new cute mugs, especially since there are some old ones we could get rid of.

The basics of black tea

There is one thing I am a bit sad about our last time in Québec: not once I managed to have a brew at David's Tea, or buy any of their products. We stopped once at the airport, but only for a minute and I did not even have time to try their tasters. Well, maybe next year. Not that I find their teas outstanding, but I love how they made tea drinking trendy again. Anyway, seeing their shop reminded me that I once saw an image on their Facebook page which I found quite interesting. I am sharing it tonight. The basics of black tea. There are many other teas, but black tea is still by and large my favourite. I don't know if the benefits have been scientifically proven, but it works for me.

David's Tea's Halloween collection

For today's countdown to Halloween, I have decided to blog about teas. I was getting a bit desperate these last few weeks: David's Tea had not showed up any new collection for my favourite holiday. And then on the 30th of September, they announced on their Facebook page (and I guess other social media) that they had finally released their Halloween collection. This year's theme is allabout  sorcery, divination, supernatural and well, witchcraf. From the look I had at their accessories, it was a good call, far more inspired than last year. It looks much better in any case, and suitably eerie. Sadly, I am not in a country where their products are sold, but hey, at least it's a good Halloween collection this year.

How much caffeine in tea?

Say what you will about David's Tea, I know not all their teas are good, I know they have been struggling financiall, but they do have their use. I found this picture and guide on their on their Facebook page. Now I can have a pretty good idea on how much caffeine content there is in what sort of tea. They also have an article on the subject on their website. Of course, it is calculated their brews, but one can easily extrapolate on their model. This will prove very useful when I want to know what I should drink as tea at what time of the day. It is also good to expand on my (rather poor) tea culture.

David's Iced Tea

Not long ago, I blogged about iced teas. Well, as I found out via on the Facebook page of David's Tea, they have their own range of iced teas in their newly launched Tropical Collection. Now I find it still too early in the year for a "Tropical Collection" and I am not too keen on the design of accessories for this one (too pastel and, well, tropical for my "autumnal" tastes), but as I rediscovered iced teas, I would certainly like to try the ones from David's Tea.

Marble tea mugs

I took this picture on the Facebook page of David's Tea. You can see two mugs from their Marble Collection. The ink marble raindrop mug (in blue) and the deep pink marble raindrop mug (in, you guessed it, pink). His and hers? Say what you will about the uneven quality of their brews and I know the company has been struggling a lot lately, but there is something you can't take away from David's Tea: they make the best tea accessories. They get it wrong sometimes, but not very often. I'd love to buy these two very posh mugs for my wife and I. Sadly (and strangely as she is an Englishwoman), she does not drink tea.

Moody teas

I found this image recently on the Facebook page of David's Tea. I decided to share it on this blog because I thought it was brilliant. Finding a tea to match my mood is also something I do already, so I am glad to know I am not completely bonkers doing this. At the moment, according to this list, I would choose the Organic Silken Pu'erh, because I feel so very, very gloomy. Read this post for the reason why. But I guess I'm often gloomy. I don't think I ever drank that Pu'erh, in fact I am not sure I drank Pu'erh, period, but I have a feeling this particular tea would do me the greatest good. And you, what would be the tea for your mood and why? Of course, it does not have to be a tea listed in the image.

David's Tea's Halloween 2018 Collection (meh!)

If you are a long time reader of this blog, you know how much I love David's Tea, especially their Halloween collection. Since I found out about them, drinking tea, preferably their pumpkin chai in an Halloween mug, had become one of my staples for the season of the witch. This year, I must confess that I am a bit underwhelmed by their Halloween collection. Compared to what they did in 2016 and 2017, it is rather bland, with some generic cartoonish monster that could belong to almost any time of year. The previous years, they had far more character. Is it because the company has been struggling? I just find the Halloween designs uninspired this year. I wouldn't feel tempted to buy them and that is quite sad.
