I took this picture during the Scarecrow Festival of a nearby village in October. I was thinking about it recently: I think our garden needs a scarecrow. British weather completely destroyed Rusty and Rosie within a few months, so we have no scarecrow to keep the garden safe. Of course, there is very little to harvest in it, but I always thought scarecrows are necessary to any autumn lover. So if we have time and energy this weekend, we might go to a nearby garden centre and buy a scarecrow, one big and solid enough to last, but small enough to fit our small back yard. And not scare Wolfie. Ideally, we would have one ready for when September rolls.
