Crime fiction afficionados have recognized the beginning of every novel from Ed McBain's 87th Precinct series. I quoted it before. I always get excited reading this intro, every time I do it feels like the first time. It struck me, reading the post I wrote last Friday, that I have not read a McBain novel for quite a long while (last year in June if I'm not mistaken) and that I miss the detectives from the 87th. So I ordered two of them and I should read them soon.
