Equinox

Quick post for those who forgot (I know I wish I had): today was the vernal equinox. There is no way to deny it: it is the first official day of spring. Although it felt like spring since last week at least. Now, usually in March it still does not change all that much, especially not in this country. Nevertheless, the nights are getting shorter and evening falls much later. I used to love spring, but this is not the case anymore. I just dread long days and warmer weather. So yeah, I was not very happy today, to tell the truth.

What's wrong with long days and warmer weather? Although I know British summers are getting hotter with climate change.

I wouldn't say Summers are getting warmer in the U.K. I've been here twenty years and if anything, cold, wet conditions are more the norm now. The U.K. is an island and very much at the mercy of the jetstream. November, December and January were awful with almost constant wind and rain storms interspersed with snow and icy conditions for about ten days each in December, January and March. The older I get, the less I like Winter, but I put that down in large part to the British housing stock which is often poorly winterised combined with the high cost of heating. Oh, and Happy Spring!
