Hog voulant bien entendu dire porc. Enfin bref...

The Three Little Pigs

You must all now the tale of The Three Little Pigs. What you may not know is that it has also been adapted into a board game by Orchard Toys. I bought it for Wolfie for his three or four year birthday. Partially because I love boardgames myself (I must confess), but also because I wanted him to enjoy playing with something else than trucks and vehicles, and because I wanted him to learn about fairy tales in an interactive way. In other words, I wanted to broaden his horizons. He did not spend much time with it, until afew days ago, when to my surprised he got in the mood to play it. I say play it and we did not really follow the rules, he just liked moving the pieces on the board and have the Big Bad Wolf blow down houses, but it was fun nevertheless.

A cake for Mother's Day

It is Mother's Day today in the UK, which always represents a challenge for me. For years, all I had to remember is to send an email to or call my mum, now I have to make it a special day for my wife AND make it entertaining for Wolfie too. In the end, it's all about the children when you have them, until they grow up. So I went to M&S and bought my wife a few treats, including this Percy Pig cake. Because she loves the colour pink and she loves Percy Pig stuff. I thought it was kind of fitting. Wolfie did not seem to trust this cake, he never does when it is a dessert he did not choose, but I reckon he'll change his mind when he tastes it. Anyway, at least my wife will have one day in the year not completely dominated by tractors, trains and trucks.

The Three Little Pigs and Wolfie

I blogged recently about our visit to a local preschool which was very nice. Wolfie enjoyed himself very much and we might send him there. One of the many toys and games he enjoyed was this display of The Three Little Pigs. For him it was the pigs ("oink! oink!"), for his daddy, it was the wolf. I love tales involving a Big Bad Wolf. The had books of the tale to read, but Wolfie was not interested in them as much as he was with the pigs and the wooden blocks that served for the wooden house. I want to buy him one book of the story, so I can read it to him.

Pig Latin

Sometimes you find silly things over the internet. I found this a few years ago, and shared it on my Facebook then, because I thought it was so hilarious. I decided to share it tonight here on Vraie Fiction, because it is still hilarious. It was written by Grant Snider and I must be forgiven as I know absolutely nothing about him (but I did share another of his cartoons here). I am really rubbish in Latin, however I know of a few expressions and pretty much all of these, some I have already used on this blog from time to time. Anyway, to make you laugh a bit and laugh intelligently like educated people, enjoy this bit of witticism.
