A hundred years of Anthony Burgess

I had little time to blog today, nevertheless I wanted to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Anthony Burgess, born on the 25th of February 1917. Great British writer, expat, lapsed Catholic, polymath, free spirit, iconoclast, he is most famous for one book, but it is a minor one in his whole body of work, which I intend to celebrate in the upcoming weeks and months. Among other blog posts. Which I already did on the 21st. And don't forget to listen to BBC Radio 3 tomorrow evening. If you are new on Vraie Fiction, you will have guessed what my readership knows: Anthony Burgess is my favourite writer. More about how I discovered him on this post from 2008. I could not choose one particular novel to mention here, as he was very prolific. So I just give you this picture of him, which I think gives you a pretty good idea of the character he was.

I'll have to listen to the BBC podcast on another evening. Sunday evening is the Academy Awards! Yes, I am that shallow.
