Porcelaine anniversary
Today is my wife and I are celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary. From what I read online, it means we are celebrating our porcelaine anniversary. Although, according to Wikipedia, the 20th year of marriage is marked by the porcelaine anniversary and there's nothing between the 15th (crystal) and the 20th. So I am quite confused. Its gemstone is the chrysoberyl, commonly known as cat's eye. But in the end, what matters is that we will celebrate today with our little boy and that we built a family together.

Until I Found You
To celebrate our wedding anniversary, I am puting this song from singer Stephen Sanchez. Of course, it wasn't sung on our wedding day, Sanchez was at the time about Wolfie's age, but both my wife and I love it, and it is fairly rare that we both love the same song (not sure if Wolfie likes it though). In any case, the song reminds me of us, so it is a fitting one.

Wax Anniversary
Today is our 16th wedding anniversary, for my wife and I. It is what we call a wax anniversary apparently, or so I read online. Traditionally, you must give like presents made of wax, which is pretty reductive: that means you must give candles. And the stone that represent it, again according to a quick Google search, is the peridot. I know nothing about that stone, though I do like its green colour. But my wife does not like green things. Anyway, all this musing about wax and stones are pretty pointless: how you celebrate a marriage is truly determined by whether you have children or not. Since Wolfie entered our lives, he became the true reason for celebrating. Last year we went to a restaurant as a couple while he was babysat by his grandparents and it just felt wrong. We still don't know how we will mark our wax anniversary (we are still tired after our holidays), but we know he will be part of the celebration. Maybe by drawing us a card with wax crayons or something.

20 Years
It is the last day of May today and my wife remembered a few days ago that we got together in May... Twenty years ago. We had forgotten to celebrate what is a rather important anniversary. I always celebrate our meeting anniversary, but never the date when we got together. Maybe because we are never quite sure of the exact date, I don't know. But it is an important one, almost half our lives, it lead to us getting married and having Wolfie, so I am kind of sad that we missed to celebrate the big 2.0. We could this weekend I guess, maybe, even though May is over.

A mischief of magpies
We went to a wedding two days ago, spent the night on the venue, a hotel which impressed Wolfie a lot, because we told him it was a mansion. But I digress. Leaving the place yesterday morning after breakfast, we saw lots and lots of magpies on the way to the main road. One for sorrow, two four joy, three for a girl, four for a boy... Then some more. A group of magpies is called among other things, a mischief of magpies. It can have other names, but I think I prefer to call it a mischief of magpies, because I do find magpies somewhat mischievous. Or at least they always look like they are up to something. We see plenty of magpies round here, but I don't think I ever saw so many together before. I thinkif I was superstitious, I would say it was a good omen for the newlywed couple. In any case, we saw a mischief of magpies.

Going to a wedding
This weekend, we are going to a wedding. One of my wife's friends is getting married. We have not been to a wedding in at least ten years and even then, it was only to the wedding reception. And it will be a first for Wolfie. I hope he enjoys it. From what I remember, weddings and even wedding receptions tend to be a drag when you are a child. Although I think some of the children we had at our own wedding seemed mildly entertained. I will make a confession here: I find them a drag too, to be honest.

Updates on the work front
As you may remember, I am being made redundant. It came off as a bit of a surprise and since then I have been job hunting. I have been to some interviews, but so far none have worked out, either I didn't suit the role or the role didn't suit me. Thankfully, things are nevertheless looking better. First, because my wife got a job last Friday. It will start in the middle of April. It's only a temping job, but it will keep pressure off me for a few months. Also, I will have at least one interview this week and I am fairly confident about this one: the role suits my background pretty much perfectly and I have a pretty good feeling about it. And I know I am getting noticed for other roles. So yes, things are looking better.

"Guilliame"

Vesuvio Souvenir
For our wedding anniversary, my wife and I went to Avanti, a little Italian restaurant in the little town of Wallingford. It was a lovely evening and Avanti was the perfect place to celebrate. Like many Italian restaurants, it had many little things that were used as part of the décor. Such as this bottle of what I assume was limoncello, in the shape of Italy and of a booth, called "Vesuvio Souvenir", so probably bought somewhere near Mount Vesuvius. I thought it was funny, this delicate carved bottle associated with a volcano. Anyway, we didn't drink limoncello after the meal, I'm not a big fan of it anyway, but for a moment I almost felt like I was back in Italy. My wife and I agree that we ought to visit it one day.

Last year's washing up
I thought I would share today a new great unknown line, to start the new year. It is one my wife made at the end of... 2020. I remembered it thanks to Memories on Facebook. So anyway, she said this on the 31st of December 2020: "Oh I create a lot of washing up I'm afraid! I will try to finish it sometimes this year." I cannot remember if she did or not, but honestly, this was hilarious.
