Spring Wreaths?

Today is the Spring equinox. I used to love it as a child, when spring was my favourite season. Not so much anymore. Anyway, this blog follows the seasons, at least when I am not just longing for autumn, so I thought I better mention it. Talking of springtime, I noticed something a few weeks ago wreaths on doors. Not Christmas wreaths or autumn wreaths, but what I guess must be called Spring or Springtime wreaths. I don't know, I don't think they look that great, might be the colours, a bit too light for my taste. What do you think? I guess there's a wreath for each season now.

Our Christmas Wreath

It is turning inti a new Christmas tradition in this family: like last year, my wife made a Christmas wreath at a craft workshop. She says she finds it rather average looking, at best, but Wolfie and I are proud of her. My father always put a (huge) wreath on display outside the family home. I thought it would be fitting to have our own. It brings the Christmas spirit outside the house. And it smells nice too, as it's real greenery.

Autumn Wreath

Today is the autumnal equinox, at last. That means nobody, nobody can claim it is not auutmn now, whatever the weather is where they are. Unless they are in the southern hemisphere, of course. I wanted a picture to celebrate the day and decided to go for this one. I took it a week ago, when Wolfie and I picked up 100 autumn leaves for his school project. We saw this autumn wreath at the door of a house in a nearby street. Whoever lives there, I love the way they think. I think I might buy an auutmn wreath for our own door. In any case, happy equinox everyone, especially my fellow autumn lovers.

Christmas Wreath

My wife went to an art and craft workshop again yesterday. She made this Christmas wreath, which she hung outside the house. I have little else to say, but this marks the very first time that we have had Christmas decorations outside the house. Just for that reason it is worth mentioning. My father has one at home, bigger and with lights, so people can see it in the dark. But this wreath is really nice and I am very proud of the work my wife made, all by herself, so I am sharing it today.

Radio Times (because 'tis the season to be watching)

At long last! The Christmas edition of Radio Times is out and I bought it last Saturday. I never miss it, even though I don't watch much tellie and there are other TV schedules that are much cheaper. But this is a tradition here in England and the articles are always enjoyable. And we can always find one or two hidden gems, a movie or a TV special, which we would not have found otherwise. In any case, when I hold this, it feels like Christmas. And what a great cover it has this year, very lush and elegant.
