Phare

J'ai pris cette photo au Sea Life Centre (donc l'aquarium) de Weymouth. Nous n'y sommes restés que quelques heures, notre dernière journée de vacances, mais nous avons adoré,surtout petit loup, bien entendu. J'y ai pris beaucoup de photos, des photos que je veux partager ici. Dont celle-ci. Ce n'est bien entendu pas un vrai phare: il était au milieu d'un étang artificiel où il y avait des bateaux de pirates que l'on pouvait contrôler par le biais d'une télécommande. C'est je crois le seul phare que j'ai vu durant nos vacances, ce qui est ironique puisqu'on était au bord de la mer. Enfin bref...

Cape Elizabeth, Maine

I saw recently a very picturesque picture on my WIndows 10 screen saver. It was of Cape Elizabeth, Maine. You could see the Portland Head Light, a historical lighthouse which I think I have seen before, somewhere, but knew nothing about. It made a strong impression on me, but also on Wolfie, who also loved the look ofthe lighthouse. So yes, short story short, we want to go there one day. I don't know if it will look as nice as the screen saver picture, but I really want to visit it now. Anybody among you have visited it? Or anybody lived/is living there? A Lighthouse(?)

 Here is another picture from our time in the the Isle of Wight, taken from the beach at Sandown. It's a lighthouse, or at least I think it is. It might be a landmark for all I know. I don't remember seeing it lit at night, but then again we didn't really go out when it was pitch black outside. It's not a great picture (might not even be a good one, I'm afraid I am a terrible photographer), but you can see the very English white cliffs. Maybe it's a lighthouse that is no longer in use, it does look quite old.

Island for sale at £66K

Bit of news I read yesterday that caught my attention: an island and a house for sale for only £66K, practically peanuts. And there is a lighthouse too. Of course, if it sounds too good to be true, it is because it is in many ways: the estate is kind of... remote. And the house needs a lot of work. All the same, an island on the Irish sea, if I had the income and the talent to refurbish it... Well, sounds idyllic.

Breizh Cola

La Bretagne a bien des particularités qui font d'elle une nation dans un pays, notamment d'avoir sa propre boisson gazeuse: le Breizh Cola. Son slogan: "le cola du phare Ouest" et tu parles d'un calembour atroce. Je sais que c'est mauvais et tout et tout, mais j'aime bien les boissons gazeuses, quand je veux une boisson fraîche sans alcool. Autant dès que possible boire local, alors j'ai bu du Breizh Cola (l'original, pas les dérivés) durant mon séjour en Bretagne. Ce n'était pas la première fois. Je crois que c'est plus caramélisé qu'un Coke ou un Pepsi, autrement c'est un cola comme un autre, mais au moins je buvais un fier produit local.

Le 12 août...

J'ai trouvé cette image sur la page d'une amie de Facebook, l'une de mes profs quand j'étais au cégep, ça ne rajeunit personne. Je tenais à souligner la journée du 12 août, parce que c'est le jour où l'on devrait apparemment acheter un livre québécois. Je voudrais bien y participer, mais l'ennui c'est que je suis bien loin pour le faire. J'imagine que je pourrais en acheter via internet, mais ce n'est pas la même chose. Je voudrais l'acheter dans une librairie, une librairie québécoise de préférence. J'imagine qu'il me faudra un jour planifier des vacances au Québec aux alentours du 12 août. Petite anecdote: j'achète et je lis de plus en plus de bouquins québécois lors de mes retours au pays natal. J'imagine que c'est l'effet du mal du pays. Mais enfin bref, c'est quand même une jolie image, bien estivale etvacancière avec le phare en arrière-plan et ses tons de bleu. À mes compatriotes, expatriés ou pas, y participez-vous? The Lighthouse Keeper song again

Okay, so I blogged about this song before. I loved it since my childhood, when I was listening to the soundtrack of A Clockwork Orange and could not understand a word of English. Now I enjoy it fully. It is a very silly song and this is why I love it. I have known today that a reader of this blog (there are some) finds my blog gloomy these days, so I thought I would put the song here again. It is all about finding treasures, living with seagulls as neighbours and living a simple happy life. And I put it here because I love lighthouses and find them fascinating. They are mysterious places, they can be both sinister like giant ghosts near the sea or havens for ships. The picture at your left was taken near Saint-Malo last year. I found it again recently, and thought it would fit another post about the song.
