Happy birthday Cate Blanchett!

I rarely if ever blog more than twice on a weekday, but I had to make an exception tonight as I did not want to ignore this very important event: it is the birthday of Cate Blanchett! She is 49 and does not look a day over 39. And I am absolutely not biased, just look at this picture taken recently in Cannes. I am not biased about my admiration for her: it just so happen that she is the greatest actress of her generation and the greatest, period. I cannot praise her enough. And I am generally not a fanboy or a groupie. If I can admire, I rarely if ever worship people, but with Cate it's different.

Cate Blanchett at Cannes

Nice little bit of news that made my evening yesterday: Cate Blanchett will chair the 2018 Cannes Festival. I am as surprised as I am happy. If somebody deserves to be chairing a film festival of such renown, it is the greatest working actress in the world and no, this is not a superlative. She is the greatest. And she is a true artist, something that cannot be said of everyone in what is also an industry. I cared very little about the Cannes Film Festival in the past. This year I will try to follow it more closely.
