Frost

Well, we do not have snow yet, not as I am typing this, but it may come yet. It is cold, in any case, or at least as cold as it can be in this country. Winter, by any practical means, is here now, as long last. And we might actually get a wintery one this year, for Christmas. I took this picture yesterday morning before the school run. It is frosty on the ground. Not as nice as snow, but nice all the same. It does put me in a festive spirit.

Frimas

First frost

This is what I saw this morning. The first official frost of the year. I even heard that in some places nearby, they had seen a bit of snow. There was no snow here, not a sign of it, but the temperatures were below zero and almost wintery. Are we going to finally have, here in England, a proper winter? I had lost hope the last few year: news channels keep repeating, every single year, that it will be the harshest winter on record, or something of the sort, but it never happens. We always end up having a mild, sometimes cool and always wet season. But this, so early in November, this cold and dry temperature... It is most welcome.

A bit of ice

Well, it is not snow yet, but I hope it is getting there. There was frost on the ground this morning, I took a picture which you can see on the left. Frost is beautiful, it makes everything somewhat fragile, like if nature was all of a sudden made of thin crystal. It is beautiful, but cold, unlike snow which, when it is not too wet, makes the outdoor feel warm as if it was covered with a blanket of wool. Maybe that is as much winter as I will get here, but it put me in a good mood today.
