Barefoot on the cold floor

Yesterday, because Wolfie had done even more splashing in the bath than usual, I got my socks completely soaked. So after we put him to bed, I went downstairs barefoot, because I thought well, there is no point wasting a pair of socks for a few minutes before shower and bed. It struck me how cold the wooden floor was. Moral of the story: houses here are very poorly insulated. I've been living here for almost two decades and it still not use to it.

I think you mean "insulated." You need a nice pair of warm, fluffy slippers!

Thank you, I corrected it.
