I blogged about this in French last year,
using the same picture. Every year, the third Saturday of September,
our little English town hosts her "carnival", a little fête done in a
nearby park. The celebration starts with a procession with allegorical cars which ends in a local park where the celebration takes place. There is music, stands, local breweries seeling their stuff. I love it because although not made to celebrate autumn consciously, it is still set around the equinox and it can be quite autumnal. And because there are probably no better way to spend a Saturday of September than drinking beer in an English park. It's just so perfect. And because we live in a fine town. Sadly, this year's carnival has been cancelled, for obvious reasons. And we missed the procession last year. I hope we can appreciate it next year.
