Last day at the office tomorrow...

Tomorrow is my last day at work. Then I take two weeks of holidays, then I start my new job, which I am quite excited about. Unlike my old school jobs from a few years ago, I do not feel bitter about losing this one, even though it was caused by redundancy. Seven years ago, when I learned that I was going to get it, I was both anxious and happy: it was going to be a decent income after a string of badly paid work, and it was leading to permanence after two years of contractual and often part-time jobs. And, even though redundancy is a form of dismissal, it's not like I'm getting fired. I am parting with my current employer in good terms, working there gave me experience and skills which I can transfer and which actually impressed my new employers enough to give me the position almost straight away. So I will be a bit nostalgic tomorrow, but also grateful for the time there.

  1. That's a good attitude with which to conclude your job there.

  2. Je suis allé avec d'anciens collègues prendre un verre pour souligner le départ d'une autre ancienne collègue dont ce sera la dernière journée aussi demain. Coïncidence.
