The Black Swan
I took this picture at the York Castle Museum. I think this black swan is related to the pub of the same name, which is apparently an historical building. I know nothing about it. I associate the black swan with Swan Lake (of course) and the black swan theory. I have discovered the black swan theory through the crime novel Trackers by Deon Meyer. Masterful novel by the way, in which a character is referred to as a black swan, an aberration, improbably shady character in his honest and simple community. The analogy is taken from this essay by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, which I found among the books my brother Andrew owns. I don't know if I will ever read the essay, but I find fascinating the use of this theory by Deon Meyer in a crime story. So since I read Trackers, the black swan is a fascinating character archetype.
i still haven't recovered from the movie. it was unnerving!
