A visit to the local sweet shop
As my readership knows, the local sweet shop, which I adore, is going to close in September, so imminently. I love sweet shops in general and this sweet shop in particular, because of the quality of their products (they make one of the best fudge I ever ate) and because the staff is so warm and friendly, as a sweet shops staff should be. Its closing is very bad news for the town, I genuinely think it lose some of its warmt and friendliness. So I went to the local sweet shop this afternoon. I bought the usual cream fudge, also liquorice, some lucky dips and chocolate. It will not be enough to keep them in business, but I will have enjoy their sweets before they close down.
Aw....that's sad! I hate it when some place that I patronize goes out of business like that! Makes feel a bit down because it's a reminder that change is always imminent and that we must appreciate what we love while it is here in the present. :o)
ReplyDeleteI am really sorry to hear this Guillaume... the unique individual shops are what give a town its character... and its feel good nature... and why people want to live there. unfortunately, it is happening here too.
ReplyDeleteThank you both for commenting. It is sad news. Shops have been closing down a lot, restaurants even more, but this one, because of the nature of its business, really gives local color to the town. And the owners don't only see the customers as buyers, but at people with seet tooth. There is a relationship that is created that is quite unique.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you have a great time with your visit to that local sweet shop. I know that you were able to find some sweet and delicious sweets there. I think that it would be great to purchase some of it.
