Summer Staycation?

Okay, I am very late sharing and musing on this BBC article, which my wife sent me back in May, but here it is anyway. Apparently, because of international unrest, the Britons have been heading for a staycation this summer. Or rather, they will take their holiday within the UK. This seems to be the case for us. We considered going abroad, but for various reasons, one of them being the scorching heat that doesn't seem to leave and is even worse on the continent, we might actually stay in the country. If you have any suggestions, please let me know in the comments section. Preferably cool places.

  1. Now I wonder what "scorching heat" really means in your country!
    I´ve only visited twice.
Once at age 14 somewhere in the "moor"? and once from Calais to Dover, then by train to London and back. So, sorry... can´t help. We stay home this "summer" (OK, we´ve had our summer-holiday Jan-March already)...

  3. N'importe où au nord, du Lake District à l'Écosse, aux îles Orkney...

  4. Summer in the highlands would be nice and fresh, you might even get to wear a sweater going hiking! We just got back from our road trip in Ontario which is sadly burning... The smoke cloud arrived in Chicago early yesterday and it has been bad since then. I hope they get some rain soon, all those treese and wildlife, it's just incredibly sad. ~Nessa
