"Washing up is Zen"
Yesterday, my wife had to spend the night in hospital in case little Wolfie would arrive. Long story short, we had an horrendous day and an exhausting one, and I was home feeling pretty useless. So I decided to do some tidying and washing up. When I said this to my mother, she replied: "Good idea: washing up is Zen!" That is motherly wisdom for you. And she was right, it did calmed me down and I felt like I was being useful. And it is a new great unknown line.
I hope everything is fine with your wife. Your Mom's great unknown line reminded me of that quotation about the meaning of enlightenment: "Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water."
